Perthes Disease Surgery

Perthes disease can affect boys from 4 to 10 years old. It is when the ball of the thighbone of the hip does not get sufficient blood supply, causing the bone to die. Surgery is an option if other treatments do not work. Major hip surgery and a procedure that lengthens a groin muscle are types of surgery to correct Perthes disease.
