Spinal Instrumentation and Fusion

Spinal instrumentation and fusion, also known as spinal fusion surgery, permanently attaches two or more bones in the spine. The surgery is done to prevent movement between the bones and stabilize the spine. Spinal fusion surgery is performed for a narrowing of the spinal cord that causes pressure; slipped vertebrae; abnormal curvatures such as kyphosis or scoliosis; an arthritic spine and fractures or injuries to spinal bones.
