Epilepsy Surgery

Epilepsy is a disorder characterized by seizures (convulsions). Seizures are occurrences of disturbed electrical brain activity resulting in a wide variety of visible and not visible reactions. Most people think of a seizure as the body shaking rapidly and uncontrollably. During these types of seizures, a child's muscles contract and relax many times. Surgery is sometimes performed to remove the abnormal brain cells causing the seizures. Surgery can be done in single or multiple depending on the complexity of the condition. Stereo EG with depth electrodes can also help in select cases.
