Pharmaceutical and Intravenous Services

Is Your Patient Going Home on an Injectable? Call BayCare Infusion Services.

The infusion pharmacy prescribes infusion therapies including intravenous (I.V.) antibiotics, parenteral nutrition, home infusion of intravenous immunoglobulin (I.V. IG), hemophilia factors and pain management 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Both adult and pediatric patients are served. Specially trained infusion pharmacists, technologists and dietitians are available to answer patient questions by phone.

Many patients are discharged on:

  • Injectables, such as Lovenox (enoxaparin) and Arixtra (fondaparinux)
  • Hard-to-find drugs, such as compounded oral Vancomycin suspension
  • Expensive medications, such as Zyvox and Xarelto

Most of these medications are not stocked at retail pharmacies and patients often struggle to access them, increasing the risk of readmission. Occasionally, Social Services needs to get involved to guarantee patients can access the medications before leaving our facility.

BayCare HomeCare’s infusion pharmacy and nursing services are performed by certified registered nurses with extensive experience. The therapies listed below include maintenance and care of peripheral and peripherally inserted central and midlines, care for implanted pumps, and training on the use of ambulatory and stationary pumps.
