Rectal Prolapse Surgery Rectopexy

Rectal Prolapse Surgery (Rectopexy)

Rectal prolapse surgery, also known as rectopexy, positions the rectum back into place after it becomes abnormally stretched and extends from the anus. The rectum moves from its normal position because muscles and ligaments around the rectum become weak. Rectal prolapse can cause stool leakage or make it difficult to control bowel movements. This is performed in open, minimally invasive laparoscopic or robotic surgery.
