Kidney Cancer- The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located below the rib cage, one on each side of the spine. Kidneys filter blood and produce urine. Urine flows from the kidney to the bladder where it is emptied from the bladder. Kidney cancer in children occurs when fetal kidney cells do not grow into mature kidneys. If fetal kidney cells do not mature within three or four years of age, the fetal cells may grow uncontrolled and without order and develop into cancerous tumors. The tumors may spread from the kidney into other parts of the body.
