Bedroom Allergens
If you have allergies, you may not be aware of the allergens that may lurk in your bedroom.
Dust mites live in bedding, upholstered furniture and carpeting.
Stuffed animals harbor dust mites, while some plastic and rubber toys can trigger contact dermatitis and other skin problems.
The dander of cats and dogs can stick to walls and fabrics.
Here are ways to keep these allergens under control: Encase pillows, mattresses and box springs in allergen-proof materials to limit mite exposure, and wash sheets at least once a week in hot water. Wash blankets regularly. Remove carpeting and upholstered furniture. Keep pets off the bed and out of the bedroom.
