- Dr. Oliver Oyama is board certified in clinical psychology and clinical health psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology. He is also certified as a family medicine physician assistant with Certification of Added Qualification in Psychiatry. He completed his doctoral degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, and a Masters of Health Sciences/Physician Assistant Certification from the Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, North Carolina. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Dr. Oyama is professor of family medicine at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine, Family Medicine Residency Program. He is an accomplished clinician, teacher and author. He completed a faculty development program at Duke University. He is well known across the country for his knowledge and expertise in primary care psychiatry. He regularly presents at national conferences on the topic and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and co-authored a textbook on behavioral health in primary care. Dr. Oyama’s practice includes both a traditional clinical psychology/psychiatry practice as well as a traditional family medicine practice with additional specialty in psychiatry.
