Rotator Cuff Repair

Rotator Cuff Repair

The rotator cuff is composed of tendons and muscles that form a sheath over the shoulder joint. These muscles and tendons stabilize the arm joint and assist in shoulder movement. These tendons can be torn from injury or overuse. Rotator cuff repair involves removal of damaged tissue and bone spurs and reconnecting tendons to bone. Rotator cuff repair is done for large tears, excessive shoulder pain, when an individual needs full use of their shoulder for work or sports or when shoulder instability causes an individual to be unable to do normal, everyday activities.
