Neonatal Intensive Care at South-Florida Baptist Hospital

Our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is located at the Maternity Center at South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, Florida, and is part of the BayCare Kids network.

Our New NICU

A level II NICU is now open at South Florida Baptist Hospital. Newborns and their moms get specialized care, seven days a week, 24 hours a day, from highly trained certified nurses and respiratory therapists and in-house, board-certified neonatologists or nurse practitioners. The nine-bed, eight-room, family-centered NICU provides individualized care and a comforting environment for the whole family. If your baby needs an even higher level of care, they can be transported to our level IV NICU at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida.

Features and Amenities

  • Coordinated Care
Every day that a baby is in our care, our NICU team provides updates and discusses care with the families.
  • AngelEye
The AngelEye system offers secure video streaming, so mothers and those designated by the mothers can view the baby from a personal device. You can see your baby any time to help you feel connected when you can't physically be together. Nurses can also send one-way update messages to the mother through the secure AngelEye website.
  • Respiratory Care
Our respiratory team specializes in infants and newborns. They’re trained to handle the care of respiratory-compromised premature babies.
  • Private Rooms
Our NICU rooms were designed to be a peaceful, healing place to promote family bonding. Parents have a private area in their baby’s room to sleep, shower or watch TV.
  • Hearing and Developmental Assessments
Premature babies always receive a hearing and developmental assessment to determine whether they need additional services, such as rehabilitation, before they go home. If any follow-up care is required, your baby’s care team will make a plan before you and your baby are discharged.
  • Twin Room
This special room is designed just for twins so that both babies can receive specialized care.
