Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS)
Our PROMS program collects short surveys directly from you before and after surgery to understand how your pain level and your recovery is impacting your daily life. These surveys are required by some insurance programs, including Medicare. Your responses allow BayCare to improve surgical care, track outcomes and meet mandatory reporting requirements. Every survey you complete helps us provide better care for you and future patients. If you have any questions or need help completing the assessment, call us at (813) 586-7163 or email proms@baycare.org.
How it Works
Receive your pain assessment survey: Before and after your surgery, you’ll receive a PROMS pain assessment survey by email or text message. Your feedback helps your care team track your progress and improve future treatments for all patients.
Complete the assessment survey: Answer a few questions about your pain and your overall health.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is PROMS and why is it important?
PROMS stands for patient-reported outcome measures. Your assessment lets you share how you feel before and after your procedure. This helps your care team monitor your pain levels, mobility and quality of life over time to improve future treatment. You'll receive a pain assessment survey to complete before surgery and one year after surgery.
Why am I being asked to complete this pain assessment survey?
Your insurance company may require completion of this survey as part of your surgical experience. BayCare is required to report patients' total joint replacement procedure outcomes, and your response is included in this requirement. The information you provide also helps us spot concerns early and improve replacement treatment programs for future patients.
How will I receive my PROMS pain assessment survey?
You'll receive your survey by email or text message twice – before surgery and 300 days after your surgery. If we don't hear from you, you may also receive reminders to complete your pain assessment. It only takes a few minutes, so please complete your assessment as soon as possible. Your responses will be protected and remain confidential.
