Insurance Plans Accepted
Baycare Contracted Insurance Companies
If you have insurance, it is important to verify that your plan is accepted by your providers. The plans listed below reflect insurance plans contracted for BayCare Hospitals, Outpatient Surgery Centers and Outpatient Imaging Centers. Be sure to contact your individual insurer to verify coverage. Not all providers accept the same insurance plans. Be sure to check with your providers before your procedure, if possible.

Do I need to have a scheduled service or have already received services at BayCare to submit an application?
Yes. You must either have a scheduled service or have already received services at BayCare in order to submit an application.

Can I apply for financial assistance if I have insurance but am not using it?
No. Financial assistance cannot be applied if you are insured but choose not to use your insurance.

What if I am enrolled in a MediShare plan or covered by a sponsored organization?
You will need to provide proof of payment or a denied claim before your financial assistance application can be reviewed.

I am not a U.S. Citizen. Can I apply for financial assistance?
Yes. If you received emergency care in one of our facilities, you may apply regardless of citizenship or residency.

I have medical insurance. Can I still apply for financial assistance?
Yes. You can apply for assistance for patient financial responsibility after insurance.

I am legally married but separated. Do I need to list my spouse's income information?
Income from a spouse must be included if you are living at the same address.

How do I document periods of no income?
If you had no income in the last 12 months, document it in the household income section as “no income” and please indicate who or what is supporting you. If you had periods of no income, document your entire income status for the last 12 months in the household income section.

Do I need to submit pay stubs or W-2 forms with the financial assistance application?
- Traditional Medicare (not Medicare Replacement HMO) recipients are required to submit proof of income and assets.
- All other applicants only need to submit the completed financial assistance application. If further information is needed, a representative will contact you.

I could not detail my financial hardship on the application. Can I submit additional information?
Yes. Additional information further explaining your financial hardship can be submitted to finassist@baycare.org. Please include your name and date of birth in the email.

How long does it take for my application to be reviewed?
Most applications will be processed within 30 days of receipt. Incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant, which may delay the review process.

How will I know if I was approved?
Approval and denial letters are mailed to the applicants listed address.

How much would I have to pay if I am approved?
If you are approved for financial assistance, you will not be subject to any billing and/or collection actions. Payments paid toward your hospital-based services prior to applying for financial assistance may be refunded to you. Payments received for BayCare Medical Group, BayCare Outpatient Imaging or BayCare Urgent Care are not eligible for a refund.

Is financial assistance health care coverage?
No. Financial assistance is not ongoing health coverage. However, an application on file can be reviewed for assistance for services rendered. You must have a scheduled service or have already received services at BayCare to apply for assistance.

I was approved for financial assistance at another facility (not BayCare) do I have to reapply?
Yes. Financial assistance in not transferable.

Nanette Wilcox
Ms. Wilcox earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a Master of Science degree in Nursing with an emphasis on Healthcare Administration from Grand Canyon University. She began her career at BayCare as a pediatric nurse and was later promoted to manager of ambulatory services. Since then, Ms. Wilcox has served as the director of patient services for St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, and as the director of operations for both St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital. Most recently, she was BayCare’s regional administrative director of cardiovascular services, in which she led complex, multisite teams and helped create strategic initiatives to improve outcomes and access to care. When she’s not at work, Ms. Wilcox enjoys being outdoors and on the water, spending time with her family, traveling and volunteering in her community.
