Why Choose Us

The goal of our program is for trainees to develop a strong foundation of clinical skills, decision-making skills, and research for our trainees prior to progressing to their advanced specialty programs.
Our sponsoring program is the BayCare Internal Medicine Residency Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Our teaching sites include St. Joseph’s Hospital, St Joseph’s Hospital -North, and BayCare ambulatory clinics.

Transitional Year residents are provided with a comprehensive clinical experience that mirrors the training afforded to residents in BayCare’s categorical programs. Our residents’ schedules, duties, and didactics are consistent with that of categorical residents, which affords them the same teaching opportunities and supervision. Our program director works directly with each resident to ensure that all requirements are met to allow them to progress to their chosen field.
