BayCare - A Powerful Economic Engine
As the second largest private employer in the Tampa Bay region, BayCare Health System is a vibrant economic engine that generates $6.6 billion in annual impacts in Florida. Through our hospitals, physicians’ offices, ambulatory care facilities and other sites throughout West Central Florida, we employ 26,900 people -- many in high-wage, high-skilled jobs. Our economic impact extends beyond our own operations, however, attracting other high-skilled industries that cluster around our facilities.
As a community-owned, not-for-profit health system, we understand that economic and human impact go hand-in-hand. We reinvest in our communities and estimate an outlay of $1.7 billion over the next five years to continually modernize our facilities and add state-of-the art equipment. We measure our scale by greater convenience and access to a variety of health care services for patients and communities in four counties.
