Commmunity Assistance Programs

You may be eligible for assistance through the Department of Children and Families if you are a Florida resident or intend to remain in Florida and meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Child under 21 residing with parent(s) or relative caregiver
• Child under 19 residing with a non-relative
• Child 19-20 living alone, not a tax-dependent
• Adults between the age of 18-26, aged out of the Florida Foster Care system
• Pregnant
• Custodial parent (step-parents) with the youngest child 17 or under
• Grandparents with custody of minor children

Your household income must meet specified criteria, which will vary by program. Your income may be high but you could still qualify for the share of cost program if you meet other criteria.

• Proof of income
• Proof of identity
• Proof of US Citizenship

• 65 or older, whether eligible for Medicare or not eligible for Medicare

Special adult programs are available with unique criteria that include coverage for Medicare premiums, co-pays and deductibles, care at home, nursing home costs or Hospice services.
