Urodynamic Center for Bladder and Urological Disorders

BayCare urologists specialize in conditions affecting the bladder, kidneys, urinary tract and reproductive health. The Urodynamics Center at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital is one of the many ways that BayCare is committed to the diagnosis and treatment of urological conditions. Some of the most common female urological conditions include urinary incontinence, recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) and interstitial cystitis.

Diagnosis and Treatment

The St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital Urodynamic center conducts a series of tests and procedures to measure the volume and pressure of the bladder to determine the cause of incontinence, stress incontinence or voiding dysfunctions.

A complete urodynamic testing evaluation usually consists of the following three tests:

• Uroflowmetry testing – measures the force of the urine stream as you urinate and whether you can empty your bladder completely
• Cystometric study – measures activity in your pelvic muscles when you urinate
• Urethral pressure profile – measures the pressure inside the urethra (the duct that carries urine from your bladder to outside your body)

The Urodynamic Center, as well as other BayCare facilities, offers the latest urologic robotic surgical options, which offer reduced pain, a faster recovery time, smaller incisions and minimal scarring.
