BayCare offers a unique, proactive approach for individuals whose background includes familial, lifestyle or environmental factors that increase their cancer risk. When you partner with our expert clinical team, our exclusive risk assessment tool will help determine if you have an elevated risk for developing nine types of cancer, including: breast, colorectal, endometrial, gastric (stomach), kidney, lung, ovarian, pancreatic and prostate. If an increased risk is identified, our team works with you to develop a personalized screening plan that's designed to optimize early detection and treatment outcomes.

If you are identified to be at an increased risk for cancer, our specialist will reach out to set up a time to review your assessment results with you in detail and address any questions you may have. If appropriate, you may receive point-of-care genetic testing during your initial visit, allowing us to develop your personalized care plan further. Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the cancer risk assessment covered by my insurance?
There's no charge to take the BayCare Cancer Risk Assessment Questionnaire. However, if your assessment indicates that you're at high risk, additional follow-up appointments, screenings or treatments may be recommended. Contact your insurance company before treatment to verify coverage for any additional services and review the online list of insurance plans accepted by BayCare.
  • Is this assessment only for people who already have cancer?
The BayCare Cancer Risk Assessment is designed for anyone seeking a proactive understanding of their cancer risk. This includes individuals who've never been diagnosed with cancer, as well as survivors looking to assess their risk for secondary cancers. We strongly encourage this free assessment for all individuals who have an elevated risk due to family history or other contributing factors.
  • What if the cancers in my family aren't included in BayCare’s Cancer Risk Assessment?
Our risk assessment focuses on screening for nine common types of cancer, including breast, colorectal, endometrial, gastric (stomach), kidney, lung, ovarian, pancreatic and prostate. It doesn't screen for rarer forms of cancer. If your personal or family history includes rare cancers, we recommend discussing genetic counseling and testing with your health care provider. BayCare offers comprehensive genetic counseling services to help determine if these specialized services are appropriate for you and your family.
