We Help Lots of Kids

  • We provide more acute medical and surgical pediatric care than any other hospital in Tampa Bay.
  • In 2017, 7,700 children were admitted to St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital (Tampa).
  • We perform more cardiovascular surgeries than any other hospital in Tampa Bay. We’re nationally known as a comprehensive center for children with single ventricle heart disease, specializing in simple and complex forms of hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS).
  • Our Steinbrenner Emergency/Trauma Center is the busiest emergency center in Tampa Bay, with 44,782 children treated in 2017, and countless lives saved over the years.

  • St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital’s nationally recognized Chronic-Complex Clinic serves as a medical home for patients with complex health needs, providing consistent, accessible and coordinated primary care for close to 1,000 children throughout Florida.

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours on all medical/surgical units at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Guests are asked to please follow these rules:

  • Only two visitors, age 12 or older, may visit during any one time.
  • Visitors may not stay after 8 p.m. without permission from the charge nurse. Those with permission will receive color coded badges from Security located in the Emergency Department. 
  • After 8 p.m., the only access to the hospital will be through the Emergency Department.

Families always come first at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital. Adults are encouraged to remain overnight with the child when possible. The medical/surgical inpatient units feature rooms arranged in small clusters according to the child's age with night time accommodations for parents. A family lounge offers lockers, shower facilities and coffee around the clock, while a family resource center has videos, literature and computer links for the latest information on children's health.

Please note: At the discretion of your charge nurse, visitors younger than 12 may visit patients. Visiting hours differ for critical care areas. Please check with the charge nurse for special hours.
