Why Choose Us
Our programs aim to graduate well-rounded internal medicine physicians who can demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to enter independent practice. At BayCare, we believe in the train to retain model. Internal Medicine residency gives a solid base for understanding and treating everything from basic to complex adult health problems. It’s a good choice for people who like building long-term relationships with patients and working through a wide range of medical challenges, from basic to complex. Plus, it leaves a lot of doors open — after residency, where you can move onto fellowship training to specialize further, or practice in outpatient medicine or hospitalist medicine.

Residents are encouraged to engage with diverse populations, addressing both medical and social determinants of health, while fostering a lifelong dedication to service and advocacy.

Clinical Research
BayCare’s Clinical Research Operations teams provide specialized staffing support to Principal Investigators across BayCare Health System in the conduct of clinical research involving human subjects. These teams support clinicians by navigating trial start-up and supporting the daily operations of running a clinical trial as delegated, under their oversight. The primary purpose of these teams is to increase access opportunities for participation in clinical research by both clinicians and patients to provide potentially life-changing care for patients today, and to advance the science of medicine for future generations. Additional resources for residents include the medical library, CITI training, and access and training for IRB submission.
