BayCare North Bay Addiction Medicine Fellowship
Program Overview
The Addiction Medicine Fellowship is a one-year fellowship designed for physicians who have completed a residency in their primary specialty and are seeking advanced training in the field of Addiction Medicine. This comprehensive program provides fellows with the essential knowledge and skills required for the practice of, and certification in, Addiction Medicine.
Clinical training includes diverse rotations in both community-based outpatient and residential treatment settings, as well as hospital-based inpatient consultations. Core rotations and continuity clinics focus on patient-centered communication and integrate primary care with addiction medicine services. Fellows are trained in harm reduction practices and policies aimed at addressing disparities faced by patients who are marginalized due to structural, institutional, and cultural inequality. They will apply these standards in their clinical work and focus on educating staff, patients, families, and the community to reduce stigma and enhance access to care for those affected by addiction.
Our program is dedicated to producing highly skilled physicians who are equipped to implement national guidelines and evidence-based practices in the treatment of addiction.
