BayCare’s expansion in Manatee County reached an important milestone on Sept. 14 with the opening of BayCare HealthHub® (Manatee), a new outpatient destination designed to bring high-quality care closer to where residents live and work. The facility brings essential services together in one convenient location while supporting BayCare’s broader vision for a connected network of care that includes BayCare Hospital Manatee and future emergency services.
Located at 6620 Moccasin Wallow Road in Palmetto, the more than 46,000-square-foot BayCare HealthHub (Manatee) is designed to provide accessible, patient-centered care including:
“BayCare’s goal is to make it easier for Manatee County residents to get the care they need, when and where they need it,” said Chris Bucciarelli, MD, MBA, vice president of ambulatory services and chief medical officer for BayCare Ambulatory Services. “As this community to continues to grow, the demand for convenient, high-quality health care is growing with it.”
The new HealthHub is part of a broader expansion in Manatee County that includes BayCare Hospital Manatee. Scheduled to open in 2028, the more than 436,000-square-foot hospital will feature 154 private patient rooms, with the capacity to expand to 207 beds as community needs grow. It will become BayCare's 17th hospital, Manatee County's only not-for-profit hospital and the first hospital north of the Manatee River. Recently, BayCare received $2.5 million in state funding to support the addition of a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the hospital, expanding access to specialized care for newborns and families in northern Manatee County. The NICU is expected to more than double neonatal intensive care capacity in the county when the hospital opens.
BayCare conducts extensive needs assessments before making major investments and uses community data to determine where services are most needed. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Manatee County’s population has grown more than 17% in the last five years, increasing the need for health care services closer to home.
In Manatee County, that means developing multiple access points so residents can receive the care they need throughout every stage of their health journey, from preventive and specialty care to emergency and advanced hospital services.
“This is not about a single facility,” Dr. Bucciarelli said. “It is about building a comprehensive health care presence in Manatee County and creating a network that can flourish with the community.”
BayCare currently operates seven other HealthHub locations across the region, including Bardmoor, Bloomingdale, Carillon, Carrollwood, Land O’ Lakes, South Tampa and Trinity.
