A Father's Grief
As a father who suffered a pregnancy loss or stillborn, it is perfectly normal to feel frustrated and helpless, as well as confused about your role as a provider and caretaker vs. a grieving father.
Feelings of shock and disbelief may have been your first reaction, making it easier for you to be strong. Believing you must be supportive during this time is normal, however you must be careful not to deny yourself the time that you need to work through your own grief. As the reality of your loss becomes more real, it is important for you to allow yourself time to mourn.
It is often helpful to verbalize your feelings and concerns to a family member, friend, professional, and/or most importantly, your partner. The ability to communicate and seek comfort from your partner can be a healthy way for both of you, as a couple, to work through your grief.
