The Community Health department at St. Joseph’s Hospital is dedicated to improving the health of the communities we serve. Through education and a focus on prevention, we are building a healthier community within Hillsborough County.
Community Health and Education
Maintaining your own health, and that of your family, is more than just eating well, exercising and getting regular health checkups. It’s also knowing what to do during emergencies.
Community Health serves up a variety of adult, senior and pediatric classes to help keep you and your loved ones safe. Our programs include:

- AED Training
- First Aid Classes
- Freedom from Smoking
- "How to Quit" Smoking Cessation
Screening and Prevention
Our 40-foot mobile health unit, Wellness on Wheels, is equipped to provide health screenings, immunizations and education. The Wellness on Wheels mobile unit can stop at your civic meeting, school system, nonprofit organization or church. Having a health fair at your company? You’ll find caring medical professionals in our mobile unit, offering the following immunizations:
- Influenza
- Measles, mumps and rubella
- Pneumonia
We also provide the following screenings:
- Cholesterol
- Blood Pressure
- Blood Sugar
- Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Osteoporosis
- Skin Cancer
Screening programs help detect illnesses early and increase your chances of successful treatment. Immunizations can keep you from getting sick.
