Neurological Services for Neonates

In the St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital NICU our neonatal specialists provide prenatal consultation for a range of fetal, newborn and infant neurological disorders including:

  • Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy
  • Congenital Hypotonia
  • Neuromuscular disorders
  • Neonatal seizures
  • Stroke
  • Central nervous system malformations
  • Brachial plexopathies

Our team is there throughout the patient’s journey, providing care, planning and support to help families navigate from fetal diagnosis through treatment. 

Neurodevelopment

Certain neurological conditions may cause a child to have developmental delays in language, behavior, motor skills (movement) or cognition. Our pediatric physical and occupational therapists provide developmental evaluations and treatment in the NICU for babies that need extra care to grow and develop properly. Our team continues to work with children that need  additional help after leaving the NICU.
