Patients in the Day Hospital also benefit from the presence of Child Life. Certified Child Life Specialists are trained in childhood development and pediatric responses to the medical environment. They work with patients and families based on their specific needs. This includes teaching positive coping in a hospital setting and helping patients better understand medical procedures through developmentally appropriate preparation and education.
Our Sedations Save program helps determine the best course of action to treat each child. Our Child Life Specialists provide assessments to ensure that patients are appropriately empowered to complete procedures without use of sedation. Certified Child Life Specialists strive to implement individualized coping plans to meet the patient and family needs and to reduce medication when possible.
For appointments, please contact your physician’s office to start the referral process. Once we’ve received the required information from your physicians’ office, one of our Day Hospital team members will contact you to schedule your child’s appointment.
For questions prior to your appointment or to cancel or reschedule, please call (813) 554-8511, option 1. Our patients are our priority so in the case that we cannot immediately answer the phone, please leave a message and a member of our team will return your call as soon as possible.
We treat children from birth to age 21. Services are offered Monday-Friday, 6am-6pm, excluding holidays.
