Lykes Radiation Pavilion
Morton Plant Hospital and Moffitt Cancer Center have teamed up to bring high-quality cancer care to our community.
Located at Morton Plant Hospital, Lykes Radiation Pavilion plays an integral role in BayCare’s commitment to cancer care. Using advanced technology and educational resources, our dedicated team of health care professionals, made up of board-certified radiation oncologists, oncology-certified registered nurses, board-certified physicists and dosimetrists and licensed radiation therapists, provide outpatient services to more than 700 new cancer patients each year.
Accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission, Lykes became the only nongovernment radiation therapy facility in Pinellas County to achieve the American College of Radiology/Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation (ACR/ROPA).
Patients, families and physicians put their trust in Lykes because of:
- High-tech treatment equipment
- The latest treatment options available including:
- Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)/Volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT), a method of delivering radiation to tumors with unprecedented precision and fewer side effects than traditional radiation therapy.
- Accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI)- post-lumpectomy, catheter-delivered, highly targeted radiation for breast cancer patients
- High-dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy to combat lung and gynecologic cancers.
- SpaceOAR™ system, a medical device used to protect against rectal injury during radiation therapy for prostate cancer. SpaceOAR, which stands for “Spacing Organs at Risk,” is an absorbable perirectal spacer.
- Hypofractionated radiation therapy
- Deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH)
- Opportunities to participate in pioneering clinical research protocols.
