Screenings & Vaccinations

Some routine tests, such as mammograms and colonoscopies, may be stopped after 75. However, your physician may want to ensure you continue these regular screenings.

  • Blood Pressure Screening
If you have a low risk for heart disease, it is recommended that you get your blood pressure checked every other year. However, some may require annual screenings, so check with your health care provider on recommendations.
  • Bone Density Screening
You may have experienced bone mass and density decline or even stress fractures in your spine. Your health care provider may order a DEXA scan, a low-dose x-ray, to determine your risk for osteoporosis.
  • Depression Screening
Hormones can cause a lot of changes, including affecting your mental health. During a depression screening, you’ll answer a series of questions to determine if you are experiencing depression or at risk for suicide. Your health care provider may recommend treatment, including referrals to a psychiatrist or therapist.
  • Cholesterol Blood Panel
Monitoring your cholesterol is an important part of heart disease prevention. Depending on your personal and family medical history, your health care provider may offer lifestyle adjustments to reduce your risk of heart disease. Typically, your cholesterol levels are checked every 3-5 years or annually if your results are high.
  • Flu Shot

The flu vaccine is the best chance to avoid getting the flu. It is important to get the flu vaccine every year as soon as it is available.
