Great Babymoons
In these last few months of pregnancy, some couples like to take a “babymoon”—a celebration of just the two of them, and of the coming growth of their family. Great babymoons don’t have to cost a lot of time or money—here are a few ideas to enjoy your time together.
Date night
If you can’t (or don’t want to) take an overnight trip, consider a date night enjoying grown-up places and activities, such as:
- A romantic dinner for two
- A movie or play
- A nightclub or comedy club
- Whatever the two of you enjoy!
Hotel getaway
A mini-vacation of just a night or two can be as relaxing or as exciting as you want to make it. Stay in and snuggle, go out sightseeing or book a couple’s massage for some intimate mommy and daddy time.
Staycation
You don’t have to go anywhere at all to enjoy the peace and quiet of each other’s company. Turn off your phones, sleep in, watch movies on the couch and order takeout.
Road trip
Take a road trip to a favorite city and see the sights, head to the beach to lounge in the sun or visit a brand-new place you’ve always wanted to go. Just remember to stop the car for a stretch or a short walk if you’re going to be driving more than an hour or two.
Air and sea
If you opt for a big babymoon, your best bet is to travel sometime between now and about week 28. The second trimester is when you’ll feel your best, and it’s the safest time to be away from home. If you want to visit a foreign country, make sure you check with your doctor about health and safety concerns like clean drinking water, mosquito-borne illness and any vaccinations you need prior to traveling.
