St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital is a 219-bed, state-of-the-art facility and the leading provider of pediatric trauma and emergency care in the Tampa Bay region. Applicant Criteria

To be eligible to apply for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship program, you must meet the following requirements:
  • Successful completion of an MD or DO degree program
  • Anticipated completion of at least three years of Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine training in an ACGME accredited Peds or EM program prior to starting the fellowship 
  • A score of PASS on the USMLE Step 3 or COMLEX 3 
  • Applications will be accepted and reviewed via Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Please make sure the following items are included in your electronic application:
  • ERAS application
  • Medical school transcripts
  • Official USMLE transcript
  • If applicable, ECFMG certificate
  • Personal Statement describing your interest in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and plans for future professional work 
  • Three letters of recommendation (one letter must be from your current Program Director)
  • Training Verification Form (to be completed by your current program director including dates of successful adult CSE examinations)
  • Applicants requiring J1 or H1B visa sponsorship will not be considered.

Curriculum

Resident physicians completing pediatric or emergency medicine residencies can advance their skills through our Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship program. You’ll receive specialized training in diagnosing and treating urgent and critical conditions in children that builds on the training you completed during your respective residency program.

    Emergency Medicine Residency Graduate Track

    Designed as a two-year program for Emergency Medicine residency graduates, this curriculum offers intensive pediatric emergency medicine training alongside essential rotations in anesthesiology, general pediatrics, pediatric critical care, neonatology, and toxicology. Fellows further customize their experience with elective and research opportunities. Our focused, high-volume environment equips fellows with the expertise and confidence to excel as leaders in pediatric emergency medicine.
