BayCare Family Medicine Residency Program

The BayCare Family Medicine Residency Program is a 3-year program based out of St. Joseph’s Hospital - South in Riverview, Florida and in partnership with Tampa Family Health Centers. The program accepts six residents per year.

In its infancy, this program carries immense potential for innovative ideas. We inspire our residents to explore unconventional paths in shaping their medical education. The leadership of our program enthusiastically invites novel concepts and suggestions for refining the program design and structure to ensure continuous improvement.

BayCare is a nationally recognized, not-for-profit health system in the Tampa Bay and West Central Florida regions, known for compassionate care and clinical excellence. Our geographic footprint covers five counties and consists of 16 hospitals, numerous outpatient clinics, health centers, and ambulatory services connecting our community members to the health care services they need.

Our partner, Tampa Family Health Centers, is one of the largest, federally qualified health centers (FQHC) in the state of Florida. As a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization, they are dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible health care to the Hillsborough County community.

Like the communities we serve, BayCare and Tampa Family Health Centers are growing! We have many career opportunities available and we want our residents to continue practicing in West Central Florida whether it’s after residency or coming back after a fellowship.

Medical Student Electives

Electives are flexible to allow residents to gain experience in their areas of interest. We have many elective opportunities in both inpatient and outpatient settings. We value a personalized learning experience and offer residents the opportunity to be creative when selecting their electives at the discretion of the faculty leadership team.
