Academy of Master Surgeon Educators Welcomes BayCare’s Dr. Subhasis Misra

Dr. Subhasis Misra, MBBS, MS, FACS, a distinguished surgical oncologist with BayCare Medical Group, has been inducted into the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Academy of Master Surgeon Educators.
This prestigious recognition is awarded to exemplary surgical educators who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to advancing surgical education and are acknowledged as leaders in their respective fields.
As part of its plan to bring more doctors to west-central Florida, BayCare Health System plans to increase its residency positions to more than 650 by 2029. The expansion of academic offerings will enhance medical and surgical specialties across the health care system, already the region’s provider of choice.
“BayCare has outstanding physician educators and staff. We are proud and celebrate Dr. Misra’s latest achievement and recognition by the Academy of Master Surgeons," said Dr. Paul Lewis, BayCare’s designated institutional official for graduate medical education. “For physicians seeking to work in a community-based care while continuing their academic pursuits, we offer a faculty of a caliber second to none.”
The ACS Academy of Master Surgeon Educators is committed to promoting excellence in surgical education across all specialties, fostering innovation, and enhancing the science and practice of surgical teaching.
Dr. Misra, a board-certified surgeon with extensive experience in comprehensive cancer care, is also highly regarded for his contributions to medical education. He has played a pivotal role in training and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows, physician assistants, and nursing students, making a lasting impact on the next generation of health care professionals.
“It is a true privilege to be part of the growth of the next generation of health care professionals,” said Dr. Misra. “The ability to influence impressionable minds to achieve their highest potential is its own greatest reward.”
The Induction Ceremony was held in Chicago on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024.
