BayCare Medical Group Announces New Neurosurgery Practice in St. Petersburg
BayCare Medical Group is pleased to announce the addition of a neurosurgery practice in Pinellas County that is affiliated with St. Anthony’s Hospital. BayCare Medical Group Neurosurgery at St. Petersburg is located at 620 10th St. N, Suite 1D.
The practice includes board-certified neurosurgeons Adam Ross Befeler, MD; Kirk W. Jobe, MD; and Cedric Shorter, MD.

Dr. Befeler performs a variety of surgical procedures of the brain, spine and peripheral nervous system, and specializes in treating complex diseases of the spine. He earned a Doctor of Medicine from Rutgers University/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, N.J., and completed a neurosurgical internship and residency at the University of Tennessee/Semmes-Murphey Clinic in Memphis, Tenn. He is seeing patients 14 and older.
Dr. Jobes’ clinical interests include complex tumors of the skull base, spine and brain. He’s trained in open and minimally invasive spine surgery and has had specialized training in cyberknife radiosurgery, a beneficial alternative to traditional open-brain surgery. Dr. Jobe earned his Doctor of Medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, and completed a neurosurgery residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He is seeing patients 18 and older.
Dr. Shorter practices general neurosurgery and treats a variety of spinal and brain conditions with a focus on complex cranial pathology. He uses innovative techniques to treat benign and malignant brain tumors, pituitary tumors and compressive nerve syndromes, such as trigeminal neuralgia. Dr. Shorter earned a Doctor of Medicine and completed a neurosurgery residency at Louisiana State University-Shreveport in Shreveport, La., and completed a skull base/cerebrovascular fellowship at the Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine/Indiana School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He is seeing patients 18 and older.
