BayCare, one of the nation’s best-performing health systems and the largest not-for-profit health system dedicated to the communities of West Central Florida, has been named in the top 10 of the 2024 PEOPLE® Companies that Care by Great Place To Work® and PEOPLE® magazine. This marks BayCare’s fourth time to be named to this list, coming in at No. 8 this year.

BayCare was honored for its dedicated efforts to tackle food insecurity through its "Healing Bags" program, which provides a 2-to-3-day supply of food to qualifying patients who are food insecure, for its programs that help underserved communities access health services, and for providing comprehensive benefits and wellness programs to its team members. Earning a spot means that BayCare has surpassed rigorous benchmarks, establishing itself as one of the best companies to work for in the nation.

The PEOPLE® Companies that Care List is based on over 1.3 million employee survey responses and data from companies representing the experience of more than 8.2 million employees. Of those surveys, more than a million came from employees at companies eligible for this year’s list and these rankings are based on that feedback.

Companies also submit essays which are validated by employee survey data to give a complete picture of the way an organization cares for its employees, its community, and the planet. To be considered for the list, companies must be Great Place To Work Certified™ and have at least 10 U.S. employees.

“Every day, more than 32,000 team members and physicians deliver high-quality, compassionate care that extends beyond our hospital walls and into the areas of greatest need, like food insecurity and behavioral health,” said Stephanie Conners, president and CEO of BayCare. “Our team members and physicians take great pride in caring for the health and well-being of all those we serve in West Central Florida. Collectively, they bring the BayCare values to life in our communities, and we are grateful to each of them for their part in achieving this honor.”

The Companies that Care list is highly competitive. Survey responses reflect a comprehensive picture of the workplace experience. Honorees were selected based on their ability to offer positive outcomes for employees regardless of job role, race, gender, sexual orientation, work status, or other demographic identifier.

“What these companies prove is that taking care of your workforce is an investment — not a cost,” says Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work. “And companies that do it the right way will reap the benefits: more engagement, faster innovation, and a healthy bottom line.”

"Each year, we look forward to highlighting the innovative ways these companies give back to their employees, communities and the world," says Wendy Naugle, PEOPLE editor-in-chief. "Celebrating the care and kindness they show is a natural extension of our editorial mission—to show what's possible when ordinary people commit to extraordinary endeavors."

The PEOPLE® Companies that Care accolade is the latest to highlight BayCare as a quality employer. BayCare was named among the 2024 Top Workplaces USA by Energage and USA Today, one of the top 100 companies nationwide with 2,500 employees or more. In 2024, Energage and Top Workplaces named BayCare a Top Workplace for Innovation, Top Workplace for Work-Life Flexibility, and a Top Workplace for Leadership and Top Workplace for Purpose & Values. The Tampa Bay Times has recognized BayCare among Tampa Bay’s Top Workplaces every year since 2015.
