BayCare Medical Group Welcomes Dr. Meenakshi A. Bhalla

TAMPA, Fla. (October 29, 2020) – Meenakshi A. Bhalla, M.D., FACC, FHFSA has joined BayCare Medical Group Cardiovascular – Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant, 3003 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Tampa. She is board certified in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplant, cardiology, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography. Dr. Bhalla is affiliated with St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa and is accepting new patients age 18 and older.

Dr. Bhalla has training in the treatment and long-term care of patients with advanced heart failure, heart transplant patients and patients on mechanical support such as LVAD (left ventricular assist device). 

She is passionate about helping patients with heart disease and enjoys working with patients and their families. Dr. Bhalla believes in developing patient relationships from the critical care setting to the long-term care outpatient setting. She involves patients and their families in every step of the process, helping them improve their understanding of the complex disease and assisting them in making informed decisions about their care. 

Dr. Bhalla was an assistant professor in cardiology at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia and later was associate professor and director of Ambulatory, Preventive and Rehabilitation Cardiology at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

Dr. Bhalla is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine, the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation and the National Board of Echocardiography. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and also a Fellow of the Heart Failure Society of America. 

Dr. Bhalla earned her medical degree from the Indira Gandhi Medical School in Simla, India. She continued her medical education with an internal medicine residency at the State University of New York – Buffalo in Buffalo, New York. Dr. Bhalla completed two fellowships, one fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant at the University of Pennsylvania/Jefferson Medical in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the other fellowship was in cardiovascular disease at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
