BayCare Names New Vice President of Mission and Ethics

BayCare Health System has named Colleen M. Walters the vice president of Mission and Ethics. BayCare is a leading not-for-profit organization comprised of 15 hospitals and hundreds of other convenient locations throughout Tampa Bay and central Florida regions.

Walters, who was the chief mission integration officer at MercyOne in Iowa, will provide executive leadership to ensure a successful integration, assessment and development of all mission, ethics and pastoral care activities across the system. 

“This is a new system-wide position for BayCare, and we’re pleased to have Walters join the team,” said Glenn Waters, executive vice president and chief operating officer at BayCare. “We know that her experience and leadership will help support our strategic goals in mission and ethics throughout the system.” 

Walters is an energetic, innovative and well-grounded leader with more than 35 years of experience in health care. During her tenure at MercyOne, she helped lead all aspects of operations including strategic planning, policy making, leadership development, oversight responsibilities for ethics, spiritual care and ministry and board formation.

Prior to joining MercyOne, Walters served as the vice president of Regional Mission Integration at Trinity Health Iowa Region, chief operating officer at Medical Professional Resources, director of physician relations and recruitment at Community Mercy Health Partners and dietary aide at Mercy Medical Center.   

Walters completed her bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership at Wittenberg University and master’s degree in health care mission at St. Thomas Aquinas Institute of Theology in Saint Louis.
