Munro has been employed with BayCare for 30 years and has served in several key roles.  She began her career as a critical care nurse at Morton Plant Hospital.  She advanced to the role of Nurse Manager and then Director of Critical Care.  In 1999, Munro became Director of Case management for all of the Morton Plant Mease hospitals and then was promoted to Director of Development and Practice.  Her most recent position, which she began in 2016, was BayCare System Director of Clinical Education and Nursing Practice.

“Jackie brings a wealth of knowledge and resources to her new role,” said Lisa Johnson, senior vice president and chief nursing officer for BayCare. “Nurses comprise one-third of BayCare’s 27,000 team members.  Having someone of Jackie’s caliber in this leadership position is instrumental in providing the necessary guidance to our work force.”

In her new position, Munro will support BayCare’s Chief Nursing Officers and continue to develop standardized practices across the health system.

“I love working for BayCare because of the opportunities to learn and grow,” Munro said. “Everyone is a key stakeholder and is open to innovative ideas.  I have enjoyed contributing to the development of a cohesive clinical education team and building great relationships.  I look forward to continuing to advance clinical excellence and professionalism among nurses, who make a huge impact on the health care of our community.”

Munro earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from St. Petersburg Junior College, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Tampa, and Master of Science in Nursing and Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing Science from the University of South Florida.  She has been nominated for numerous awards and received the Excellence in Nursing Leadership Award from the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives and was a member of the Case Management team who received the Franklin Award of Distinction award from the American Case Management Association.
