ST. PETERSBURG, FL., (March 22, 2018) – St. Anthony’s Triathlon is excited to announce a musical concert addition to the 35th annual St. Anthony’s Triathlon weekend, to be held Friday, April 27, 2018 at 6 p.m. in Vinoy Park. This year’s free concert will feature two acts including country artist and Florida-born triathlete, Erin Cosgrove, and The Petty Hearts, a Tom Petty Tribute Band.

“We couldn’t be more excited about adding this new feature to our weekend lineup for the St. Anthony’s Triathlon,” said Susan Daniels, Race Director of the St. Anthony’s Triathlon. “The City of St. Petersburg and Tampa Bay area have been incredibly supportive of our event in the past and we know that the music of both Erin Cosgrove and The Petty Hearts gives everyone another reason to come relax on the beautiful waterfront of Vinoy Park and help support the amazing athletes that are participating with us on Saturday & Sunday.”

As the first major triathlon race on the U.S. calendar, St. Anthony's Triathlon has kicked off the race season in North America for the past 34 years. On race day, participants will swim through the waters of Tampa Bay, bike along glimmering waterways and quiet harbors, and run through picturesque neighborhoods and past cheering spectators. The event culminates with a festive waterfront awards party featuring live music.

The St. Anthony’s Triathlon attracts professional and amateur competitors from around the world. USA Triathlon (USAT) has selected St. Anthony’s Triathlon as a 2018 Regional Championship Race and as a USAT Southeastern Club Regional Championship. The event was recently named one of the top 10 Great Destination Triathlons in the United States by Compete Tri for 2017. The Triathlon is a premier race event that attracts a wide range of professional and amateur athletes including Olympic gold medalists, Ironman World Champions, and celebrity athletes.

St. Anthony’s Race Weekend is April 27-29, featuring the Meek & Mighty Triathlon for kids and novice adults occurring on April 28 followed by the Olympic and Sprint distance triathlon races on April 29.

The celebrated the triathlon, in its 35th year, also improves the overall community experience this year by extending the Sports and Fitness Expo from a two-day to three-day event and holding all Triathlon events in one park instead of two. The Sports and Fitness Expo will take place from April 27-29 at St. Petersburg’s waterfront Vinoy Park.
