Race benefits prostate and breast cancer programs of Morton Plant Mease

CLEARWATER, Fla., (August 16, 2018) -- The streets near Morton Plant Hospital will be rocking with runners and walkers when “Rock the Ribbon” returns Saturday, Sept. 15. 

The 5K and 10K races begin at 6:30 p.m. at 400 Corbett St., Clearwater on the Morton Plant Hospital campus. Runners in the 5K race will cross a portion of the Clearwater Memorial Causeway Bridge. Competitors in the 10K race will proceed across the bridge and back. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and finisher medal celebrating the accomplishment.

“Rock the Ribbon,” presented by Advanced Urology Institute, also includes a Kids Dash, which begins at 6 p.m., for ages 1-12, as well as live music, games, bounce houses, pizza, cold drinks and prizes.

Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation hosts the event to benefit the prostate and breast cancer programs of Morton Plant Mease.

The cost of the race through Sept. 10 is $30 for the 5K and $35 for the 10K. After Sept. 10, the price increases to $35 and $40 respectively. The Kids Dash is $10 through race day. The 5K and 10K are chip-timed USA Track & Field certified events.

Awards will be given to the overall winners and the top three finishers in each age group. In addition, all participants will receive a medal. Kids Dash participants will receive trophies.

Participants may pick up their packets at the Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation office at 1200 Druid Road South in Clearwater on Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Race day pickup starts at 4:30 p.m. at 400 Corbett St.
