BayCare Breaks Ground on a New Model of Health Care: HealthHub at Bloomingdale

Tampa, Fla., (November 16, 2017) – Imagine a doctor’s office with no waiting room. A health care facility that incorporates technology in new ways to make your life better. A wellness destination designed to fit your lifestyle and your needs. That’s BayCare HealthHub™ at Bloomingdale. 

HealthHub at Bloomingdale will be an innovative, high-tech health and wellness facility designed to make life better for residents in the greater Brandon area and surrounding communities. BayCare Health System leaders, local officials and community members celebrated the groundbreaking of this first facility of its kind during a special ceremony Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017. 

“With BayCare HealthHub at Bloomingdale, we’re creating a new model for health care,” said Jim Cote, senior vice president for Ambulatory Services at BayCare Health System. “This facility will be a one-stop destination – incorporating technology and convenience to not just treat symptoms, but also to help keep families healthier.” 

The 115,000-square-foot wellness center will integrate traditional health care services such as primary care, pediatrics, rehabilitation, imaging and laboratories with fitness classes, nutrition education and like-minded retailers to promote healthy living. Patients will experience a streamlined visit from the moment they walk in the door as they check in just once at a central registration desk for multiple health and wellness services.   

The facility also will be equipped with a TechDeck™ staffed by health technology experts specially trained to provide support and coaching on a variety of wellness devices and applications that help patients monitor, manage and improve their health. 

“HealthHub at Bloomingdale represents a $53 million investment to expand access to preventative care in this growing community,” said Cote. “We created this wellness destination with one goal in mind – to keep residents in the greater Brandon area healthy and prevent symptoms before they happen.”

The facility will sit on a 21-acre campus that includes a half-mile walking trail, a serenity garden, free parking and valet. HealthHub at Bloomingdale is located at 2470 Bloomingdale Ave. in Valrico, FL and is scheduled to open early 2019.
