Philip C. Ovadia, MD, Joins BayCare Medical Group

Board Certified in General and Thoracic Surgery

CLEARWATER, Fla., (November 2, 2017) – Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon Philip C. Ovadia, MD, has joined BayCare Medical Group. He is a member of the medical staff at both Morton Plant Hospital and St. Anthony’s Hospital.

Board certified in general and thoracic surgery, Dr. Ovadia is accepting new patients at the new Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery office at St. Anthony’s Hospital, 1201 5th Ave. N, Suite 402, St. Petersburg, and the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Office at Morton Plant Hospital, 455 Pinellas St., Suite 320, Clearwater. 

Dr. Ovadia earned his undergraduate degree in science from Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pa. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He continued his medical education by completing a general surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in New Brunswick and a cardiothoracic surgery residency at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston.

Dr. Ovadia has practiced outside of Pittsburgh for more than 10 years. He has held many leadership positions, including Chief of Surgery. His clinical interests include surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation, multi-arterial coronary artery bypass and minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures.

Dr. Ovadia has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in publications such as The Annals of Thoracic Surgery and the American Journal of Medical Quality. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
