ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., (March 14, 2017) -- St. Anthony’s Hospital health experts invite the community to attend seminars in April that will focus on health care access, alcohol and memory disorders, and smoking cessation. There also will be free memory screenings offered. The monthly seminars are free to the public. 

Weight Loss Surgery Information
Tuesday, April 4
Noon
LifeHelp Center, St. Anthony’s Resource Center, 500 Martin Luther King St. N, St. Petersburg

Take the first step to weight loss surgery and attend an information session. Kevin Huguet, MD, will explain various options.

Smoking Cessation Class
Monday, April 10 
6 p.m.
BayCare Outpatient Center (Carillon), Conference Room B, 900 Carillon Parkway, St. Petersburg

This two-hour class provides valuable tools to help you quit using tobacco including coping with cravings and physical and emotional symptoms. The class includes free aids to help quit using tobacco while supplies last. 

Memory Screenings
Tuesday, April 11 and Tuesday, April 25

St. Anthony’s Hospital, Main Lobby, 1200 Seventh Ave. N, St. Petersburg 

Take the first step toward the discovery of memory problems for adults concerned about their memory health. Call (727) 825-1595 for information.

Alcohol and Memory Disorders
Wednesday, April 12

St. Anthony’s Hospital Memory Disorders Center, Suite 206, Professional Office Building, 1201 Fifth Ave. N, St. Petersburg

Alcohol impacts behavior, emotions and thinking skills. Veronica Clement, PhD, ABPP clinical director of neuropsychology and the clinical director of the St. Anthony’s Hospital Memory Disorders Center will explain how alcohol affects people with memory disorders and strategies to help. Lisa Ball, DO, who specializes in family medicine, will help participants learn how to approach and navigate the modern health care environment, including when to seek medical care and at what level.
