Walk-in X-ray Services Now Available at Winter Haven Women’s Hospital

Winter Haven, Fla., (March 23, 2016) – Walk-in x-ray services are now available at Winter Haven Women's Hospital's Breast & Imaging Center. Anyone with a prescription from their doctor for an x-ray can enter through the Breast & Imaging Center’s private entrance Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4pm, to receive quick, convenient x-ray services. 

X-rays are one of the most commonly known forms of imaging because they are extremely beneficial when examining and treating many different areas of the body. An X-ray is a quick, noninvasive and painless medical test that produces pictures of your extremities. X-ray images are based off of the density of the different areas of your body. For example, the air running through your lungs will show up as black while your bones will show up as white. 

These images are beneficial when determining if a bone is fractured or broken, if a joint is dislocated, and many other potential injuries. X-rays are also helpful when diagnosing your body to see if there is arthritis, infections or other bone-related diseases.

Most x-rays require no preparation and are completed within just a few minutes. Dress comfortably and be prepared to remove glasses, jewelry or other metal objects.

A prescription for x-ray services from a doctor is required. Talk to your doctor about any medical symptoms you are having, so he or she can prescribe the best imaging exam for you. If you have questions about x-ray services at the Breast & Imaging Center, call (863) 294-7010.
