BayCare's Save Your Spot Puts Urgent Care Scheduling in Patients’ Hands

CLEARWATER, Fla., (September 17, 2015) – BayCare Urgent Care patients can now go online to schedule appointments at any of the health system’s Urgent Care sites. With BayCare’s Save Your Spot, patients can make a reservation from a smartphone, tablet or computer anywhere they have a wireless connection.  Save Your Spot will automatically send texts or emails to update wait times or to reset reservations if necessary.

When the patient checks in through Save Your Spot, their reservation will be held and texts will be sent to the smartphone or tablet to let the patient know of their status or update them with any changes. Patients can determine when they receive a text alert – five minutes, 20 minutes or more – prior to the time they will be seen to minimize any wait time.

“This patient friendly program allows for anyone to hold a spot at any one of our urgent care centers and then go on with their day before coming in,” said Nathan Keith Waldrep, MD, director of physician services, BayCare Urgent Care. “Patients can select a time that meets their schedule and reduce the amount of time spent in the waiting room.”

Walk-in appointments will continue to be welcomed at all BayCare Urgent Care locations.

All of BayCare’s Urgent Care Centers are equipped to provide a total care experience including X-rays, lab work, EKGs and prescriptions. Among the medical conditions that may be treated without an appointment are minor illnesses and injuries, flu and colds, sprains and strains, minor cuts, stings and burns.

BayCare Urgent Care Centers also offer flu shots, school and sports physicals, as well as occupational health services including post-hire physicals, drug screenings, workplace injuries, vaccinations, and corporate wellness. In addition to two urgent care locations at 13670 Walsingham Road, Largo, and 4821 U.S. Highway 19, New Port Richey, BayCare has opened five new locations since October 2014 including:

-        BayCare Urgent Care – Carrollwood – 11921 North Dale Mabry Hwy., Suite 7, Tampa
-        BayCare Urgent Care – Waters – 6909 W Waters Ave., Tampa
-        BayCare Urgent Care – Brandon/Valrico – 2016 E Brandon Blvd., Valrico
-        BayCare Urgent Care – South Tampa – 1155 S Dale Mabry Hwy., Tampa

In addition, BayCare also has confirmed three more locations planned to open this year:
