CLEARWATER, Fla., (June 8, 2015) -- Join Morton Plant Mease and the Clearwater Threshers for the 10th annual Pitch for Pink event Friday, July 17 at Bright House Field, 601 N Old Coachman Road, Clearwater.
The event includes the baseball game, a post-game concert, the pre-game honoring of breast cancer survivors and a silent auction. The 6:30 p.m. game features the Clearwater Threshers, Class A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, taking on the Palm Beach Cardinals, Class A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Prior to the game at 6 p.m., the Threshers will invite breast cancer survivors to walk the bases. Players from both teams, along with fans, will cheer on the survivors to celebrate their courage and strength as they battle breast cancer.
Ten years ago when the Threshers considered a breast cancer awareness night, the team’s community relations manager Amanda Koch embraced the idea as a way to honor her own grandmother who lost her battle with breast cancer at age 64. Amanda’s passion teamed with Morton Plant Mease’s commitment to providing top quality breast health services in the community has made this event a win for the community, raising more than $220,000 to support breast cancer programs over the last decade.
As part of the fund-raising effort, pink jerseys worn by the players and pink bats will be autographed and auctioned in a silent auction along with gift certificates and spa packages donated by local businesses and individuals.
After the game, fans can stay for an Old-School concert featuring Infinite Skillz plus Treach and Kay Gee from Naughty by Nature.
Also that evening, Morton Plant Mease will offer cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure screenings on a first-come, first-served basis.
The event schedule:
