Winter Haven Hospital Honors Volunteers

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – April 21, 2015 – Winter Haven Hospital recently honored more than 50 volunteers at the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon held at Lake Ashton Golf and Country Club during National Volunteer Week.

Mary Anne Ramsey, Winter Haven Hospital chaplaincy services manager, presented the Certificate of Kindness Award to Anna Kauffman. This award represents volunteers who support the work of the Chaplaincy Department in providing spiritual care for our patients, loved ones and team members.

Other awards presented to Winter Haven Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary members were:

  • Volunteer Spirit Award to Ron Davey
  • Essential Piece Awards to Jean Stein and Agnes Goller
  • Caring Heart Award to Joyce Lawson
  • Red Carpet Service Award to Dale Reed
  • Helping Hand Awards to Scottie Beasley and Dee Hengy
  • Shining Star Award to Cindy Barber
  • Your Time is Appreciated Awards to Jeannie Allen, Dick Koza, Janet Parsons and Pete Vanderveen

The Auxiliary annually sponsors three Youth Scholarship Awards in the amount of $2,000 each to recognize outstanding youths in the community. Youth Scholarship Awards were presented to Lauren Mayo from Lake Region High School and Angelis Contreras from Winter Haven High School. The third scholarship, known as the Christopher Whitehead Memorial Scholarship Award, is reserved for a teen volunteer at the hospital and was presented to Witney Fleurant from Lake Wales High School (IB Program). Members of the Winter Haven Hospital Auxiliary presented a check for $65,000 to the Winter Haven Hospital president and Winter Haven Hospital Foundation president and CEO. This contribution completes the Auxiliary’s $1 million project pledge for the Volunteer Auxiliary Grande Lobby Construction/Renovation.

Since 1938, the Winter Haven Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary has provided thousands of hours of volunteer support to Winter Haven Hospital. The Auxiliary has also donated thousands of dollars to help finance hospital building projects, purchase new equipment and sponsor healthcare related programs. The Auxiliary operates the hospital's gift shops located at Winter Haven Women’s Hospital and Winter Haven Hospital.
