St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation Invites Anglers to Annual Spring Fishing Tournament

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 25, 2014) – Time to get ready to cast a line for a good cause at the St. Anthony’s Hospital Inshore Fishing Classic & Marine Arts Festival on Saturday, April 12, 2014. The tournament, which is presented by the Florida Gulf Coast Center for Fishing Foundation, will benefit the hospital’s cardiac care programs.

The catch, photograph and release event will award prizes for the total aggregate length of largest snook, redfish and trout caught by each team. Anglers can fish in any inshore water areas as long as they have their lines in by 7 a.m. and out by 2 p.m. The four-person teams must catch and measure their fish with the tournament provided measuring stick. They must also have a digital camera on board to take a photo of their catch before releasing it.

Boat/team entry fee is $250 per four-angler team. The entry fee includes four tournament shirts, one goody bucket and four tickets to the Tournament Awards Party & Marine Arts Festival on April 12 from 5-8 p.m. at One Progress Plaza, 200 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. Additional tickets for the awards party are $10. First-place team wins $2,500; $1,000 for second place; $500 for third place; $300 for fourth place; and $200 for fifth place. A lucky loser in 15th place will win $500 at the awards party.

The Marine Arts Festival will feature the works of five local artists, food stations by local restaurants – Subway, Snappers, Salt Rock, PDQ and more – and complimentary beverages from Three Daughters and the St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation. There also will be a silent auction and artwork will be available for purchase.

A paddleboard opportunity drawing will take place at the Marine Arts Festival. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased in advance at the St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation or by calling the Foundation at (727) 825-1086. They also can be purchased at the Festival.

Participants must attend the Captain’s Party at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at Ferg’s Sports Bar, 1320 Central Ave., St. Petersburg for tournament instructions.

Checks should be payable to the Florida Gulf Coast Center for Fishing Foundation. Mailed entry forms for the tournament must be received by April 9. All other registrations must be in person at the Captain’s Party.
