WHH 2013 Heart Smart Days

WINTER HAVEN, Fla – January 28, 2013 – Winter Haven Hospital's Bostick Heart Center will host a series of educational and health screening events in conjunction with the hospital's annual Heart Smart Days that recognize February as American Heart Month.

Winter Haven Hospital's Heart Smart Days is presented in part by Curves® of Winter Haven. Curves offers the Curves Complete™ program. Curves Complete is a specially designed, weight loss program that combines diet, exercise, and motivation to help individuals reach weight loss goals.

Here is a rundown of Heart Smart Days activities:

An Affair of the Heart Ladies Luncheon will be held Friday, February 1 at noon. The event will be held at the Regency Center for Women & Infant's in the Wellness Classroom. The speaker will be Sirisha P. Reddy, M.D., a cardiologist who practices at Winter Haven Hospital's Bostick Heart Center. Enjoy lunch and fellowship and learn about heart health. Admission is free, but space is limited. Registration is required.

Health Fair and Free Screenings. Saturday, Feb. 16, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Participants will have the opportunity to obtain a comprehensive personal health risk assessment for heart disease. This will include blood tests and other measurements that help predict heart disease risk. Ankle/brachial index tests will be offered to test for peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Admission is free, but the cost is $35 for those taking blood tests. Participants should fast for 12 hours before having their blood drawn (but take all medications with a sip of water). The event will be held in Winter Haven Hospital’s Volunteer Auxiliary Grande Lobby. Registration is required for the comprehensive risk assessment

Evening Community Lecture. Thursday, Feb. 21, 6:30 p.m. Lecture presented by Gary Johnson, M.D., Winter Haven Hospital Bostick Heart Center cardiologist. The event will be held in the hospital’s main campus Auditorium. Admission is free, but space is limited. Registration is recommended.
