Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
If your baby is born prematurely or with special health needs, it's comforting to know that Winter Haven Women’s Hospital provides neonatal intensive care that is necessary to meet these medical challenges 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Equipped with sophisticated monitoring equipment and skillful, caring staff, our Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) are places where sick and premature newborns can receive special, around-the-clock care by highly trained neonatologists until they are healthy enough to go home.
A Level II NICU can provide care for babies born at 28 weeks or later who weigh more than 1000 grams (2.2 pounds); who might have inability to maintain body temperature; who may have difficulty with oral feedings; who are moderately ill with issues that are expected to be quickly resolved and are not anticipated to need emergency subspecialty services. This NICU can also provide mechanical ventilation.
