Patrick Downes, MBA
Patrick Downes, an experienced health care executive, is the president of St. Joseph’s Hospital-South.
Prior to St. Joseph’s Hospital-South, Downes held executive leadership positions at Tenet Corporation hospitals in Miami and South Carolina from 2010 to 2023, including his last role as chief executive officer at East Cooper Medical Center in Mount Pleasant, S.C.
Earlier in his career, Downes worked in administration with Tenet Florida Physician Services and Miami’s North Shore Medical Center and in the Florida government. He was an analyst/administrative assistant with the Florida House of Representatives and special assistant to the governor and chief of staff in the administration of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
Downes holds both a master’s of business administration and bachelor’s of science in business administration from Florida State University in Tallahassee. Downes is a native of Palm Harbor, Florida, in Tampa Bay’s Pinellas County.
