Diabetes Management
The LifeHelp Nutrition and Diabetes Center provides education and training to help adults with any type of diabetes gain control and live healthful lives. Our team of certified diabetes care and education specialists and registered dietitians will customize your sessions after completing an assessment and learning how to best meet your individual needs.
To Schedule an Appointment
The physician who supports your diabetes care will provide a referral to our center and we will contact you to schedule an appointment. You can contact our center to request a referral form to give to your physician. Your physician’s office may fax the completed referral to our office and our team will contact you to schedule your appointment. Please call 727-820-7910 option 1 to request a referral form.
The LifeHelp program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and offers specialized education to promote your health addressing these and other topics:
- Diabetes diagnosis and emotions
- Blood sugar monitoring and CGM product training
- Diabetes medication training – injectables/other
- Prevention of complications
- Meal planning and Carbohydrate counting
- Guidelines for safe activity exercise
- Risk reduction and lifestyle changes
Community Diabetes Support
BayCare offers virtual and in-person wellness sessions addressing a variety of topics. Please contact 1-800-BayCare or go to BayCare/Events.org to register to attend and learn more about free diabetes topic sessions and other wellness offerings. Advance registration is required for BayCare events.
Diabetic Circulation Problems
People who have diabetes are vulnerable to nerve and vascular damage that can result in loss of protective sensation in the feet, poor circulation, and poor wound healing. The BayCare Wound Care Center (St. Petersburg) can help treat and heal hard to heal wounds and foot ulcers, preventing complications that may lead to amputation.
